Philip M. (Phil) Papoojian is a chemical industry veteran who has over 35 years domestic and international experience. His international experience includes 48 countries. Phil started his career as an applications engineer for SWS Silicones, a joint venture of Stauffer Chemical and Wacker Chemie (Germany), where he handled the company's silicone heat-cured, RTV, and reactive fluids in the Northeast U.S. SWS was fully merged into Wacker. Phil then moved on to Mereco Technologies as a Product Manager for the company’s formulated epoxies, urethanes, silicones, and cyanoacrylates into electronic applications. Phil also worked at J.T. Baker Chemical as a Product Manager, Marketing Manager, and Business Director for the company electronic chemicals consisting of photoresists, photoresists strippers, acids, solvents, etchants, and low particulate chemicals sold to the semiconductor industry worldwide. In 1985, Phil testified before the U.S. antitrust committee during the proposed acquisition of J.T. Baker's electronic chemical business by Ashland Chemical. Baker was ultimately purchased by Procter and Gamble as part of the Richardson Vicks acquisition. Phil left Baker to join Voyager Technologies as a member of the start-up management team as Vice President of Marketing, a venture capital and private equity funded entity that manufactured ionization systems to the semiconductor and electronic packaging industries. Voyager was acquired by Simco Corporation. Phil returned to Mereco in 1993, became its President & COO, and led the company to significant growth that resulted in the acquisition by Protex International (France) in 2014. Phil personally negotiated the Protex deal and remained with Protex in Mergers and Acquisitions for three years post-sale. In September of 2017, he founded Packard Hill Capital Advisors, Boston, MA. In July of 2018, Packard Hill Engineered Materials and Packard Hill Quality Services were established. Phil is strong advocate for the ISO Quality Management system. In 1997, he directed Mereco as one of the first small manufacturers in RI to achieve ISO 9001 certification. In 2017, He was certified as an quality auditor to for the AS9100D Aviation, Space and Defense organizations standard and also for the ISO9001-2015 standard. He also completed training in the ISO190111:2011 guidelines for auditing management systems.
Phil has an MBA in Finance, a MS in Plastics Engineering, an MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a BA in Chemistry. He also completed the Executive Program in Marketing at the University of Michigan. He is the former Chairman of SBANE, a small business advocacy organization now known as the New England Business Association and the former Chair of the SBANE Government Affairs and Advanced Manufacturing Committees. He is also a longtime member of Rotary International.
